About Suvaani

Bharat's classical languages, from the very first letter

Explore Bharat’s linguistic heritage with a learning experience built on grammatical rules, classical sources, and sound. Suvaani is for children, families and adults who want to read Prakrit and Sanskrit for themselves.

Why we built it

The teachings of Mahāvīra, the Vedas and the great epics come down to us in Prakrit and Sanskrit. For most people, learning them has meant a rare teacher or a dense grammar book.

Suvaani brings both together. A patient teacher explains each step in Hindi and English, and a grammar engine shows exactly how every form is made, so you can check, practise and hear it until it becomes your own.

Two courses, one way of teaching

Prakrit Suvaani

The language of the Jain Āgamas and of classical drama, the speech of ordinary people in ancient Bharat.

  • 18 units, from the first letters to real stories
  • Every tense with its variant endings
  • Explanations in Hindi and English

Sanskrit Suvaani

The language of the Vedas, the epics, the Gītā and centuries of poetry, science and philosophy.

  • 22 guided lessons with exercises
  • Every lakāra, case, sandhi and compound
  • Stories read aloud word by word

What every page of Suvaani stands on

  1. Grammatical rules

Every verb form, declension and sandhi is built by one grammar engine from the rules of the books. Nothing is typed in by hand, so a lesson, a table and a game can never disagree.

  2. Classical sources

Rules, words and examples come from recognised course books and reference grammars, and each course names its sources openly.

  3. Sound

A classical language is meant to be heard. Words are read aloud from teacher recordings where we have them, slowly or word by word.

  4. Teachers

Lessons, stories and forms are reviewed by teachers before learners see them, and every report of a mistake is checked.
